INDIA 1st INNING:

20  Muzarabani to Samson, FOUR, up and over for four!! Pitched up delivery outside off, Samson gets closer and hoists it over extra cover for four. One bounce and over. India finish with 182 runs.

19.4  Muzarabani to Gaikwad, out Caught by Madhevere!! this time a wicket, no celebration from Muzarabani. A full, wide one from the bowler, Ruturaj reaches out for a square drive but ends up holing it down the throat of sweeper cover. Gaikwad c Madhevere b Muzarabani 49(28) [4s-4 6s-3]

19.3  Muzarabani to Gaikwad, 2 runs, dropped! A full delivery onto middle and leg, Gaikwad clears his front leg for a slog and gets it off the toe-end. Looked like it might go all the way but the fielder at deep mid-wicket settled under it. Pops out his hands and onto his boots.

19  Ngarava to Gaikwad, FOUR, a wide yorker from Ngarava. Gaikwad stays deep, shuffles in and opens the bat face on the drive to get it behind square for a boundary

18.5  Ngarava to Gaikwad, SIX, back on the hand slower one, slips out as a knee-high full toss. Gaikwad stays in his crease and whacks it over long-on for six!

18.1

Ngarava to Samson, FOUR, back of length onto leg stump, Samson goes for a pull and gets an inside edge towards the fine leg boundary

17.5  Muzarabani to Shubman Gill, out Caught by Raza!! In the air… taken this time!! Pitched up and quick outside off, Gill gets closer and tries to get under it to hoist it over mid-off. Doesn’t get the timing needed and skies it up as Raza from mid-off tracks back to complete a good catch. Shubman Gill c Raza b Muzarabani 66(49) [4s-7 6s-3]

17.2  Muzarabani to Shubman Gill, 2 runs, length ball that gets a bit of extra bounce onto off. Gill with a big swipe across the line but plays it a bit early. Two runs taken

16.4  Raza to Gaikwad, SIX, six more!! Raza errs by going too full again, and Gaikwad gets on one knee and smokes it straight over the bowler’s head for a maximum

16.2  Raza to Shubman Gill, SIX, all the way!! Gill anticipated a quick, full one and that’s what he got. Shuffles in and slogs it over cow corner for a maximum

16.1  Raza to Shubman Gill, byes, FOUR, a full, quick seam-up delivery that angles down the leg. Gill makes room for a big heave but can’t connect. The keeper can’t stop as the ball runs away to the left of the stumps for four byes

14.2  W Masakadza to Gaikwad, FOUR, short and wide, Ruturaj makes room and goes inside out over extra cover. A couple of bounces and beyond the ropes

13.3  Chatara to Shubman Gill, FOUR, back of a length and outside off, Gill gets an outside edge on the cut that runs away to the left of short third for a boundary. That’s 50 for the Indian skipper after two paltry scores in the first 2 games.

13.1  Chatara to Gaikwad, FOUR, steps out, makes room and goes inside out towards the wide long-on boundary. A good display and playing to the field here from Ruturaj Gaikwad

12.5  Madhevere to Gaikwad, FOUR, fumble again!! Full on off stump, driven down to long-off who misfields an easy stop and ends up conceding a boundary

12.4  Madhevere to Gaikwad, SIX, classical!! Dances down to the pitch of it and slams it over wide long-on for a sixer. An off spinner to a right handed batter who plays 3 months at Chepauk was never going to be a good idea, and Ruturaj making Zimbabwe pay

12.2  Madhevere to Shubman Gill, SIX, smoked!! Madhevere fires it full outside off and Gill was ready. Dances down to play a big slog sweep across the line and over cow corner for six

11.4  W Masakadza to Shubman Gill, FOUR, too short from Masakadza. Shubman Gill steps out and flat bats it straight down the ground for a boundary. A shot played in disdain

10.3  Raza to Abhishek Sharma, out Caught by Marumani!! holes out!! A short ball onto middle and leg, Abhishek stays in his crease and heaves it across the line. He played this shot to great effect plenty of times in the IPL, but this time against a bigger leg side boundary holes out to deep mid-wicket. Raza strikes again, the centurion from last game is out cheaply this time. Abhishek Sharma c Marumani b Raza 10(9) [4s-1]

10  W Masakadza to Abhishek Sharma, FOUR, flat and just outside off, Abhishek stays in his crease and slaps it powerfully down the ground. Shouts of ‘catch it’ but well to the left of long-off and the fielder can’t even restrict the boundary

8.1  Raza to Jaiswal, out Caught by Brian Bennett !! finally the wicket falls. After plenty of half chances, a few drops and fumbles, Jaiswal is out!! He preps himself early to play a reverse sweep, ends up skewing it towards backward point where Bennett makes no mistake. Raza bowled a quicker off break at the stumps, and he gets his man. A loud scream from the Zimbabwe skipper to celebrate that breakthrough! Jaiswal c Brian Bennett b Raza 36(27) [4s-4 6s-2]

7.3  Chatara to Jaiswal, FOUR, dropped!! Jaiswal dances out and plays a square drive as Chatara pushes it full and wide. Flies to the left of Marumani at sweeper cover who gets a hand to it but can only parry it to the fence. Was a bit late to react, or could have been out

4.5  Ngarava to Shubman Gill, FOUR, on a length onto the thigh pad, clipped behind square and once again some pedestrian fielding in the deep. Square leg slides in and pretty much kicks the ball onto the boundary

4.1  Ngarava to Jaiswal, 1 run, the partnership between Jaiswal and Shubman Gill is now, sliding inwards from a length, Jaiswal with a little shimmy inwards clips it towards mid-wicket

3.5  Muzarabani to Shubman Gill, FOUR, extra pace and extra bounce troubles Gill. He wanted to run it down but gets a leading edge that flies over first slip for a boundary. A streaky four but four nonetheless

3.3  Muzarabani to Shubman Gill, FOUR, short and wide, Gill throws his bat at it and punches it behind square towards third-man. The fielder fumbles a straight forward pick-up and ends up conceding a boundary. Muzarabani is irate, you wouldn’t want to upset your 6 ft 8 inch bowler…

3  Chatara to Jaiswal, SIX, short ball on the body again, Jaiswal gets a top edge on the pull. Goes high in the air and exactly over the keeper and just lands beyond the boundary ropes. The runs keep flowing for India. The intent for Rohit is intact amongst the new boys.

2.5  Chatara to Jaiswal, FOUR, short ball onto the body but Chatara doesn’t have the pace to trouble Yashasvi Jaiswal. A cracking swivel pull behind square, over the infield for four

2  Ngarava to Shubman Gill, FOUR, fuller and angling onto off, Gill with a neat looking push drive to the right of mid-off. Just pure timing on that one, guides the ball to the boundary. Both Indian batters looking good here!

1.5  Ngarava to Shubman Gill, SIX, take that!! Ngarava tries to test Gill with another short ball and he gets smoked behind square through a cracking pull shot. All the way for six

1.4  Ngarava to Shubman Gill, no run, in the air….. Short of length and shoots up a bit, Gill slightly late on the pull and gets it off the splice. Lobs up to the right of the bowler and mid-wicket also runs towards it. The bowler allows mid-wicket to go for it and it lands short of him. Had Ngarava committed to it, Gill was in danger

1.2  Ngarava to Shubman Gill, FOUR, the sign of a quality batter is getting off the mark with an on drive, and Shubman Gill is a quality batter!! Fuller on the pads, Gill turns his wrists with great panache to guide it between mid-wicket and mid-on for a boundary

0.5  Brian Bennett to Jaiswal, SIX, dances down the track and Bennett bowls it in the arc. A big heave across the line over deep mid-wicket for the first six of the innings.

0.5  Brian Bennett to Jaiswal, no ball, FOUR, extra bounce and offering width outside off, Jaiswal gets closer and just dabs it behind square into a vacant pocket for four. Brian Bennett has also overstepped

0.3  Brian Bennett to Jaiswal, FOUR, short and sliding onto the pads, Jaiswal swivel pulls it behind square and there is a fumble by Chatara who overran it. Gifts India and Jaiswal a boundary
